Family Law
Angie began her law career in 1987 as a law clerk in the U.S. District Court Northern District of Texas. She practiced family law with Tom Goranson from 1988 until 1992, then served as an Associate Judge in both the 256th and 254th Judicial District Courts. Angie returned to the firm January 1, 1996. She is Board Certified in Family Law and plays an active role with the State Bar of Texas, Dallas Bar Association, Attorneys Serving the Community, and Dallas Alliance of Collaborative Professionals. Additionally, she served as a board member of the Dallas Child Advocacy Center from 2001 until 2006. Angie currently serves on the board of Planned Parenthood of North Texas. She frequently speaks on family law topics. Angie has been consistently recognized as a Top 50 Female Super Lawyer and a Top 100 Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly and as a Best Lawyer in Dallas by D Magazine and has been listed in The Best Lawyers In America since 1999.
Angie's background as a former child abuse case worker and her judicial experience have led her to believe strongly in fair interest-based settlements in family matters. This philosophy has led her to the forefront of Collaborative Law, a divorce negotiation process in which the parties and their attorneys cooperate to keep the dissolution of the marriage out of the courthouse. Angie is now working to further the use of Collaborative Law around the United States by teaching the Interdisciplinary Model of Collaborative Law to lawyers, judges, mental health professionals and financial professionals in other states.
Angie's practice emphasizes complex property litigation and cases involving child-related issues. A primary goal of her practice is to minimize the negative impact of divorce on children, as evidenced by her serving on the board of directors of the Dallas Advocacy Center. Angie graduated cum laude from Texas A&M University in 1976, and cum laude from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1987. Angie's other passions are her family, travel, community volunteering, and singing in her church choir. She recently traveled to Honduras to serve as a member of a veterinary and public health mission team.
