Leota H. Alexander is an experienced, board certified family law attorney. Now, after 35 years of practice, Leota's focus is mediating and arbitrating family law disputes and handling Collaborative Family Law matters.

Leota is a widely published author and frequent lecturer. She has been Board Certified in Family Law by the State Bar of Texas since 1980 and has practiced law since 1970. She has been recognized both as a Texas Super Lawyer and one of the top 50 Female Texas Super Lawyers by Texas Monthly. She is a founding director of the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas and a founding member of the Dallas Alliance of Collaborative Professionals.

Leota has the extensive background to handle all family law issues, including divorce and custody, complex property division, child support, premarital and postmarital agreements, modifications and enforcement of orders. She has many years of experience both in litigation as well as in the collaborative family law process. She has attended and participated in numerous trainings regarding collaborative family law.

She is an experienced Mediator in the area of family law and has been mediating cases since 1995. She makes every effort to work with clients and their attorneys to focus on the needs of their particular situation. She prides herself in finding ways to resolve issues by "thinking outside of the box".

She is a member of many professional associations including the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the American Inn of Court.

Leota received her bachelor's degree in mathematics with honors from the University of Wyoming in 1964 where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She received her law degree with high honors from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1970 where she was a charter member of that law school. She has taught family law and marital property as an adjunct professor both at the Texas Tech Law School and Texas Wesleyan Law School.
